In my opinion, these management techniques apply equally, if not more, to non-profit fundraisers in these dire financial times.
1) At least 70% of your assets are inside the heads of the people who work with you.
2) Everyone in the organization should be part of the quest for revenue.
3) Set up a system that encourages employee suggestions and formally discusses them on a regular basis.
4) Reward employees for ideas that are implemented.
5) Call a meeting and tell everyone to come with up to three ideas that will: generate revenue; save money; or improve productivity.
