Nu? How’s your website?

It’s one of your most powerful marketing tools out there. How effectively is it working for YOU?

Nonprofit Marketing Guide has a great 10-point checklist for evaluating your own website. Here are just 3 of their suggestions:

5. Can I Donate Online Easily From the Homepage?
8. Are There Stories on the Need, or Successes?
10. Are Your Google Keywords on Target?
And I would like to add an eleventh point:
11. Are You Connected to the Social Media World?
This is quickly becoming a necessity for nonprofits. There needs to be a connection between your “classic” website and Social Media sites. Is your nonprofit active in the Web 2.0 world?
There are many avenues to explore. Your site can be linked up to your company’s account on Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, or whichever sites are most appropriate to whatever it is that you do. Linked In may not make sense for you, Alltop may be perfect. Figure it out, and then link your site up appropriately.
Overall, these are basic, yet shockingly overlooked elements that many nonprofits fail to incorporate into their websites. In one informal survey of 30 people, 56% said that their websites did’nt allow visitors to sign-up for email communication at all.
Whoah!
Do you know someone who needs help designing or writing the copy for a smart website that will build their nonprofit and help them raise more money? Don’t leave them standing in the rain too long. Get them to someplace dry.
