The JPost.com just published an article about Jewish assimilation and intermarriage and their possible effects on Donations to Jewish causes.
Are these two factors a cause for concern? Yes, of course. Will they play a role in decreasing donations? Time will tell, but just from a numbers standpoint, any decrease in the number of potential donors to Jewish causes is a potential loss in donations.
We blogged about a similar issue on our post “Got $1,000,000” where Oudi Recanati, a Jewish philanthropist himself, observes that Jewish donors are sometimes giving to non-Jewish causes before they give Jewish ones.
We need to ask ourselves this: If Jews aren’t going to give to Jewish/Israeli causes, then who will?
What cause will your next donation go to?
