Mifal was founded in 1980 by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Kramer z”l, together with a group of individuals concerned for their fellow Jews in need.

With the guidance of leading Gedolim, Mifal began with three Gemach funds established in remote communities of the Negev where interest-free loans were never before available.

Currently, Mifal has grown to a network of thirty-two branches spread throughout Eretz Yisroel, as well as separate divisions for Emergency Grant and Loan Funds, Hachnosas Kalla, and Clothing for Impoverished Families and their Children.
